Spider Valve™ MkII

  1. Go to the top of this page and sign in with your Line 6 account. (You don’t have one? Click “New Account.”)
  2. Once you’re signed in, open Spider Valve MkII Edit software. (You don’t have it? Click here.)
  3. Connect your Spider Valve MkII amp via CAT5 to your FBV™ MkII foot controller, and connect your foot controller via USB to your computer.
    1. To upload a tone to CustomTone: create a tone in Spider Valve MkII Edit and save it to your desktop. Open the Spider Valve MkII Edit Help menu and click on CustomTone. Follow the directions.
    2. To download a tone from CustomTone: select a tone, click Get Tone, and add it to your Spider Valve MkII amp via Spider Valve MkII Edit.

SPIDER® IV

  1. Go to the top of this page and sign in with your Line 6 account. (You don’t have one? Click “New Account.”)
  2. Once you’re signed in, open Spider IV Edit software. (You don’t have it? Click here.)
  3. Connect your Spider IV amp via CAT5 to your FBV™ MkII foot controller, and connect your foot controller via USB to your computer.
    1. To upload a tone to CustomTone: create a tone in Spider IV Edit and save it to your desktop. Open the Spider IV Edit Help menu and click on CustomTone. Follow the directions.
    2. To download a tone from CustomTone: select a tone, click Get Tone, and add it to your Spider IV amp via Spider IV Edit.

*Spider IV 15 and 30 are not compatible with CustomTone.

POD® xt, POD® xt Live, POD® xt Pro, Bass POD® xt, Bass POD® xt Live, and Bass POD® xt Pro

  1. Download and install Line 6 Monkey
  2. Connect your XT to your computer with a USB cable
  3. Select the Updates tab in Monkey
  4. Update your Driver if necessary
  5. Update your Device Firmware if necessary (for the non-Bass products, version 2 or later is required)
  6. Download and install Line 6 Edit
  7. Windows users, it's important that you have a live internet connection during install, so that the Line 6 Edit installer will get and install for you supporting Java software if needed.
  8. Launch Line 6 Edit and use the Online Library button for direct access to Tones from the integrated browser.
  9. In case of Java problems, please see below.

Vetta™ II

  1. You'll need Windows XP, 2000, ME or 98SE OR Mac OS X (10.3.9 or later recommended)
  2. As described in your Pilot's Handbook, connect your Vetta II to your MIDI interface with two cables (in-to-out and out-to-in), and ensure that the MIDI interface is operating
  3. Download and install Line 6 Monkey
  4. Select the Updates tab in Monkey
  5. Update your Device Firmware if necessary (you'll need version 2.11 or later)
  6. Download and install Line 6 Edit
  7. Windows users, it's important that you have a live internet connection during install, so that the Line 6 Edit installer will get and install for you supporting Java software if needed.
  8. Launch Line 6 Edit, and open your browser to www.customtone.com. The Help button at the top of www.customtone.com pages provides more information about the online tone library and getting Tones from it.
  9. In case of Java problems, please click the Help button at the top of www.customtone.com pages.
  10. For online tone library access you will also need Explorer® 6 or greater (Windows) or Safari® (Mac OS X). Please disable any "pop-up stopper" software (designed to prevent spam ad windows) to use Java-related features and their related dialog boxes.

Flextone™ III

  1. 1. You'll need Windows XP, 2000, ME or 98SE OR Mac OS X (10.3.9 or later recommended)
  2. As described in your Pilot's Handbook, connect your Vetta II to your MIDI interface with two cables (in-to-out and out-to-in), and ensure that the MIDI interface is operating
  3. Download and install Line 6 Monkey
  4. Select the Updates tab in Monkey
  5. You may update your Device Firmware if you'd like (this is not necessary for Line 6 Edit compatibility)
  6. Download and install Line 6 Edit
  7. Windows users, it's important that you have a live internet connection during install, so that the Line 6 Edit installer will get and install for you supporting Java software if needed.
  8. Launch Line 6 Edit, and open your browser to www.customtone.com. The Help button at the top of www.customtone.com pages provides more information about the online tone library and getting Tones from it.
  9. In case of Java problems, please click the Help button at the top of www.customtone.com pages.

POD® 2.0 and HD147®

  3. Download and install from our software downloads page.
  4. Windows users, it's important that you have a live internet connection during install, so that the Line 6 Edit installer will get and install for you supporting Java software if needed.
  5. Launch Line 6 Edit, and open your browser to www.customtone.com. The Help button at the top of www.customtone.com pages provides more information about the online tone library and getting Tones from it.

Java

Both the Windows® and Mac® OS X versions of Line 6 Edit rely on Java Runtime Environment software to do their magic.

Windows

If you experience Java-related problems, please use the Add/Remove Programs control panel in Windows to completely remove Java, then run the Line 6 Edit installer while connected to the Internet and the installer will get and install Java for you.

Mac OS X

Java is a standard part of your operating system. Please use your Mac’s Software Update feature to be sure your Java version is up to date.
